The Kerala High Court has issued an interim order directing the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) to take action within three days, on the alleged opening of the material room adjacent to the strongroom at JDT Islam Education Complex where electronic voting machines (EVMs) from eight Assembly constituencies in Kozhikode are being stored. This followed a plea by the Kozhikode District Congress Committee president K. Praveenkumar, who also contested as a UDF candidate from the Koyilandi constituency, seeking action against the returning officers concerned. He alleged that the material room was opened on April 20 by the returning officers who also reportedly carried laptops with them while entering the room.
