MANJUNATH Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said on January 10 that the tourism potential of coastal Karnataka is yet to be exploited fully. Speaking at the Coastal Karnataka Tourism Conclave, the Chief Minister said, “No successive government has succeeded in exploiting its potential.” He said that the State government has announced its tourism policy 2024-29 to exploit the tourism potential in the State. Mr. Siddaramaiah said maintaining proper law and order is crucial for tourism to thrive and development to flourish. “Peace prevails in the coastal belt now. Let it continue for ever,” he said. Asking people not to take the law into their hands, the Chief Minister said no one should divide society on the basis of caste and religion. Recognised worldwide The Chief Minister stated that Mangaluru has been recognised worldwide not only now but for centuries. He added that students from different parts of the country and abroad arrive in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts to pursue education. However, the local youth go to different parts of the country and abroad in search of jobs due to a lack of employment opportunities here. It is regrettable, he said. The logo of the International Kite Festival to be held in Mangaluru on January 17 and January 18, was released on the occasion.
