Tree chopping in DC office complex; administration acts against staff

The Udupi district administration on Tuesday, ordered departmental probe against the member-secretary of the District Office Complex Core Committee following the reported chopping of several fruit-yielding trees in the complex on Monday.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Abid Gadyal also ordered dismissal of two outsourced employees working under the core committee. Referring to news reports appearing in these columns on April 28 about the tree chopping, Mr. Gadyal said trees were chopped without bringing the issue to the notice of the district administration.
