The authorities have issued an alert in Kozhikode as soaring mercury levels coupled with high humidity have led to a heatwave-like situation in the district.

Drinking water, air circulation, and restroom facilities should be ensured in all working places. Online food delivery providers and migrant labourers should get special attention. Shaded places need to be provided for them to take rest. Special camps and vacation classes for students in schools need to be avoided. Drinking water should be arranged in exam centres. All hospitals need to be equipped to deal with sunstroke and heat wave-related cases. The safety of police personnel employed for field duty should be ensured. Their working hours need to be rearranged with regular breaks. The frequency of waiting periods at traffic junctions should be reduced to help travellers. All the grama panchayats will have to implement heat action plans in line with the guidelines of the Kerala State Disaster Management Authority.
