A view of the Supreme Court of India. | Photo Credit: File Photo Amid the uncertainty surrounding the conduct of the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) polls, the State Election Commission (SEC) on Tuesday said it has not filed an affidavit in the Supreme Court seeking an extension of the deadline for conducting the civic polls in the GBA area. The clarification followed the Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms (DPAR) writing to the Commission seeking an extension of the election deadline till September 30, citing a severe strain on available staff owing to the ongoing national Census and Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.
