Infrastructure works in the capital city of Amaravati have taken a serious hit due to an acute shortage of diesel, severely impacting ongoing construction activity. A senior Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA) official said that nearly 60% of machinery remained non-operational since Saturday (April 25, 2026) due to fuel shortages, warning that the situation could worsen if supply issues persist. Officials said that after consultations with the contractors, it was estimated that nearly three lakh kilolitres of diesel was required per day to operate the large machines deployed for capital city works. APCRDA Commissioner Vijay Rama Raju V. told The Hindu that they are trying to help the contractors.
