Balachandar People continue to flout the liquor ban in Bihar as the latest figures reveal that over 17 lakh persons have been arrested for violating the prohibition law, in force since April 1, 2016, in the State. The manufacture, import, storage, sale and consumption of liquor is illegal under the law. Of the 17,18,058 accused held so far, 7,75,979 persons had been arrested by the Prohibition & Excise Department, while 9,42,079 persons had been arrested by the police.
