Babu hints at political backstabbing behind 2016 loss

Senior Congress leader and Thripunithura MLA K. Babu on Monday hinted at political backstabbing behind his defeat in the 2016 Assembly elections, the only electoral loss he suffered in his decades-long career.

“I lost the election as those around me ‘helped’ me a lot. However, I don’t want to go into the details since the matter is no longer relevant,” Mr. Babu said. He was addressing a ‘Meet the Press’ organised by the Ernakulam Press Club against the backdrop of his decision to conclude his parliamentary career by opting out of the recent Assembly elections.
