Govarthan A project to develop the Cauvery riverfront at Karungalpalayam will be taken up after the State government accords approval following the declaration of the Assembly election results on May 4, 2026. Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, during his visit to Pollachi in Coimbatore district on March 13, 2024, announced nine new projects for the district. One of them envisages developing the riverfront and establishing effluent treatment facilities to prevent the discharge of sewage into the river. However, as a separate proposal to cover the remaining areas under the Underground Sewerage Scheme (UGSS) had already been submitted, it was decided to exclude treatment plants from this particular project.
