Dinesh High-speed wind accompanied by heavy rainfall lashed parts of Bhadravati taluk in Shivamogga district of Karnataka on April 26 evening, bringing down hundreds of arecanut and coconut trees. The wind, which lasted about 15 minutes around 6 p.m., left farmers devastated. Many lost years of hard labour and investment that had gone into developing their plantations. Full-grown trees that had been yielding for the past 10 to 15 years were flattened. While many snapped in the middle, some were uprooted entirely.
