The Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Coimbatore, has said that the recent Supreme Court order banning parking of heavy vehicles on highways will help reduce accidents. President of the Chamber Rajesh B. Lund stated in a press release that National Highways stretches account for a disproportionately high number of fatalities. The Court’s directives, including ban on parking of heavy vehicles on highways, implementation of Advanced Traffic Management Systems (ATMS), and identification of accident prone blackspots, are essential.
