Forest officials setting up a cage at the area where the tiger was spotted at Thankamala near Vandiperiyar in Idukki on Sunday Forest department officials set up two cages on Sunday to recapture a tiger that ventured into human habitations at Thankamala, near Vandiperiyar, in Idukki on Saturday night. The five-year-old male tiger had previously been captured in Munnar and released into the deep forests of the Periyar Tiger Reserve (PTR) in Thekkady on April 2. The tiger was originally trapped at Pampanmala, near Munnar, during the last week of March after it repeatedly killed cattle in a tea plantation. Before its release into the PTR, officials fitted the big cat with a radio collar to monitor its movements.
