Different organisations on Saturday condemned three staff members of Krupanidhi Pre University College in Bengaluru allegedly forcing students to remove their ‘janivara’ (sacred thread) before entering the venue of Common Entrance Test – 2026 on Friday.

K. Ashraf, president, Dakshina Kannada District Muslim Okkoota and a former Mayor, said in a statement that every individual enjoys religious freedom. It should not be curbed for any reason. Every student enjoys the right of wearing his religious symbol while writing the examination. It is the human right of candidate appearing for the examination. The action of college staff is condemnable.

Pradeep Kumar Kalkura, a former president of Dakshina Kananda Sahitya Parishat, representing the Brahmin Okkoota, said in a statement that the staff of the college have hurt religious sentiments. “The action can not be excused,” he said, adding that the government should take strict action against those responsible for the same.
