At least six people injured as private aircraft makes forced landing near Rourkela

A flight operating between Rourkela and Bhubaneswar made a forced landing on Saturday (January 10, 2026) after the aircraft encountered a technical glitch shortly after take off. The airline confirmed that all passengers and crew on board were safe.

The flight was operated by regional airline IndiaOneAir. The aircraft involved is a nine-seater Cessna Grand Caravan.

The Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau will launch a probe into the incident.

“The flight crew reported a technical issue after about 50 minutes of flight and prudently declared a “Mayday” call in accordance with established safety procedures. Acting decisively and professionally, the pilots carried out a forced landing in an open area near Kansor, approximately 15–20 km short of Rourkela at about 13:20 PM,” the airline said in a press statement.

The aircraft was carrying two crew members and four passengers. All occupants are safe, and there are no serious injuries, the statement adds.

The airline operates flights under the Central government’s regional connectivity scheme called UDAN that aims to provide air connectivity to tier-2 and tier-3 cities.
