Transport department officials have warned action against bus operators hiking prices of tickets taking advantage of the festival rush. Kurnool Deputy Transport Commissioner S. Shantha Kumari asked the operators of contract carriage and tourist bus operators not to fleece passengers by hiking prices and also engage a second driver for every service apart from following all road safety measures while running their services. Cases will be registered against bus managements, if they do not follow road safety norms, she said. Ms. Shantha Kumari said the buses should have valid documents like fitness certificate, permits, insurance and pollution certificates and should meet safety standards like having emergency exit, fire extinguishers, safety hammers and first aid kit. The buses should also display the helpline number 9281607001 mandatorily in the bus.
