Last week, two videos went viral. One, of a woman in Mumbai, on her way to pick up her child from school, yelling at a Maharashtra Cabinet Minister for blocking traffic and hampering regular citizens’ movement. The other, of Tamil Nadu minister P. Thiaga Rajan breaking down on the final electioneering leg, when he spoke about his father. It is not the norm for men of PTR’s post-menopausal age to cry publicly, but he was greeted with support. Men must cry, so boys know it’s ok to show vulnerability. They must speak more about their fathers, and the role they played in their lives, the good, the bad, and the ugly, because as humans, we are made of all three.
