Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan greets the newly sworn in Chief Justice Soumen Sen. | Photo Credit: Special Arrangement Justice Soumen Sen was sworn in as the new Chief Justice of the Kerala High Court by Kerala Governor Rajendra Viswanath Arlekar on Saturday (January 10, 2025) at a ceremony held at Lok Bhavan. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan attended the swearing-in ceremony. The event was also attended by Kerala Legislative Assembly Speaker A.N. Shamseer, Minister for Law and Industries P. Rajeeve, and Thiruvananthapuram Mayor V.V. Rajesh. Justice Sen was enrolled as an advocate in January 1991. He practised as an advocate in the High Court at Calcutta for 20 years. He was elevated as a Judge of the Calcutta High Court in April 2011 and as Chief Justice of the High Court of Meghalaya on September 26, 2025.
