The channel would be constructed for 5.1 km along the Chennai Bypass Road service lane near Maduravoyal. | Photo Credit: SPECIAL ARRANGEMENT To address recurring flooding in Ambattur Industrial Estate and Korattur, the Water Resources Department (WRD) has started constructing a channel to divert surplus water from Ambattur Lake to the Cooum river. The Ambattur Lake is part of the cascade of waterbodies that ultimately link floodwater to Madhavaram Retteri Lake. The lake receives surplus water from tanks upstream, including in Paruthipattu and Ayyapakkam.
