Anti-snake venom (ASV) is available in 146 hospitals across the State, in select community health centres, and in all hospitals at taluk-level and above, the Health department has said. In the event of a snakebite, people should call Kanivu 108 ambulance service (dial 108) which has experienced emergency medical technicians, who will ensure first aid and continuous monitoring of the patient and take the patient directly to a hospital where the anti-snake venom is available. People should not waste time taking snakebite victims to hospitals on their own, where antivenom may not be available, an official release said.
