The recent back-to-back hits have brightened the prospects of the exhibitors in Malayalam cinema, who had been facing an increasing crisis. | Photo Credit: H. VIBHU Hashir and his three friends, Alan, Ajin, and Vinayak, all well-followed social media influencers, had in January tossed off a humorous reel, swaggering about how they would storm the Malayalam cinema if only given the chance. They were back in their seaside hometown of Varkala in Thiruvananthapuram after wrapping the shooting of Vaazha II: Biopic of a Billion Bros, the sequel to Vaazha: Biopic of a Billion Boys, directed by Savin Sa. Fast forward three months to April 2 when the movie opened, the quartet, who did the lead roles, just turned that reel into reality. The movie made on a modest ₹13 crore literally took the box-office by storm raking in ₹150 crore in less than 10 days to become one of the biggest hits.
