A controversy has erupted over the actions of the Kaduthuruthy Urban Cooperative Bank (KUCB), which evicted a four-member family over a loan default and handed over their seized house, which was reportedly demolished within hours. The bank, however, has denied any role in the demolition of the structure. The incident occurred on Wednesday, when bank authorities, acting on a High Court order in their favour, evicted the family of M.G. Aji, his wife, and two daughters. A large police contingent, along with Fire and Rescue Services personnel and an ambulance, were present at the site to carry out the eviction. Aji and his children were later admitted to the Kottayam Cooperative Hospital at Kaduthuruthy. The bank subsequently handed over the property to its new owner, who allegedly demolished the house soon after.
