A tree being translocated using an earthmover along the KBR National Park road stretch in Hyderabad. | Photo Credit: BY Arrangement Several questions are being raised by city environmentalists about the legal status of the Tree Protection Committee (TPC) for the Hyderabad and Rangareddy districts, following the tree felling/translocation permissions accorded for the construction of flyovers and underpasses on the roads around the KBR National Park. Activist Lubna Sarwath, demanding a halt to all infrastructural works around the national park, observed that the TPC is not the statutory authority to give tree-felling permissions.
