Two more persons were arrested on Friday for allegedly throwing stones at the police during a Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) demolition drive around Faiz-e-Ilahi mosque near Turkman Gate earlier this week, bringing the total number of arrests in the case to 13.

As part of their investigation into the incident, the police have identified and are analysing the social media accounts of several influencers, who shared videos and information about the demolition. “We are scrutinising their role in the stone-pelting incident,” a senior officer said, adding that they are also probing the role of a Samajwadi Party MP.

Meanwhile, around 30 people gathered on Friday at Faiz-e-Ilahi mosque to offer prayers. The police deployed a large number of security personnel to maintain law and order. The area continues to be under drone surveillance, the officer said.

According to a senior officer, the area remains under drone surveillance in addition to the already present CCTV cameras to ensure tight vigil.
