Photo: Special Arrangement The Southern Railway has reopened the public toilet on the platform adjoining the GST Road entrance at Vandalur railway station, which it had closed citing security reasons. It also cleared the bushes in an adjacent area. The Hindu, in its January 6, 2025 edition, had highlighted the lack of basic amenities at the station and the concerns raised by commuters. An activist said that senior Railway officials inspected the station following the report and directed the staff to address the problems on priority. A pipeline that burst near the toilet, leading to water stagnation, has also been fixed.
