As part of intensified surveillance and regular inspections inside prisons, officials on Monday seized illegal items, including ganja and tobacco that were found abandoned near the Parappana Agrahara prison perimeter wall. According to prison authorities, a paper ball wrapped in plastic was recovered during routine inspection around 7.50 a.m. near the wall between Barrack Nos. 4 and 5. The packet was first noticed by a woman warder, Lakshmidevi, during her patrol.
