Telangana RTC strike: Recruitment of temporary drivers taken up; alternatives under consideration ahead of marriage season

As State-wide strike launched by the employees of the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) under the banner of RTC JAC crippled the public transport services across the combined Khammam and Karimnagar districts on Wednesday (April 22, 2026), the authorities have put in motion a contingency plan to recruit temporary drivers and conductors to operate hired buses on main routes.

The authorities of the public transport entity are considering various other alternative options to alleviate the woes of commuters, hit hard by the strike, just ahead of peak wedding season. Most of the marriages are scheduled on April 26 and 29.
