Venkatachalapathy The Election Commission of India (ECI) has published the draft electoral roll of voters in Tamil Nadu on Friday (December 19, 2025), after carrying out the much-debated Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise. This assumes significance as the State is just months away from Assembly elections due next year. Earlier on October 27, the ECI announced the conduct of second phase of SIR of electoral rolls in 12 States and Union Territories, including poll-bound Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Kerala and Puducherry, covering nearly 51 crore voters. The first phase was held in Bihar.
