The Central region will be brought under heightened security for the Assembly election scheduled on April 23 even as the police are all set to put in place comprehensive arrangements in various districts to ensure peaceful conduct of elections. Detailed security schemes have been drawn up in each district in the Central region consisting of Tiruchi, Perambalur, Pudukottai, Ariyalur, Karur, Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Nagapattinam, and Mayiladuthurai districts. The Tiruchi City Police, which is headed by the Commissioner of Police, has prepared a separate security scheme under its jurisdiction.
