RAJESH The high-voltage electioneering, which commenced about two weeks ago, ended on a peaceful note at 5 p.m. on Tuesday (April 21) across the southern districts as per the guidelines of the Election Commission of India, officials said. Top political leaders from various parties criss-crossed and campaigned for the candidates across the 58 Assembly Constituencies between Theni and Kanniyakumari districts. While some of the meetings were furious and electrifying, the speeches also touched a new low, when speakers targeted personalities. Apart from the leaders from Tamil Nadu, many notable speakers from neighbouring States like Kerala, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka represented their alliance parties and sought support for the candidates. Also, the people had the opportunity to listen to leaders like Narendra Modi and Rahul Gandhi too in the region.
