Photo: Wikipedia Eight-time MLA Shrawan Kumar was appointed as the leader of the Janata Dal-United (JD-U) Legislature Party on Tuesday (April 21, 2026). A notification to this effect was issued by the Bihar Legislative Assembly after the JD(U)’s working president Sanjay Kumar Jha informed the State Assembly’s Secretariat about Mr. Shrawon Kumar’s appointment to the post. On Monday (April 20, 2026), JD(U) national president Nitish Kumar was authorised by the party to decide on its Legislature Party leader. An MLA from the Nalanda Assembly constituency, Mr. Shrawon Kumar is considered close to former the Chief Minister, with both leaders hailing from the same district, and the Kurmi caste.
