The Corporation school students from class sixth to plus two displayed some of the best and innovative ideas at a science exhibition held here on Friday. In association with HCL Foundation and SEDT (Socio Economic Development Trust), the Corporation had embarked upon the idea of establishing a club named – “Discovery Science Club” under the Young Kalam Discovery Science Centre in which about 800 students from 24 schools were roped in. With the guidance of the science teachers, the students, who were members of the science club, were encouraged to read books/journals other than their syllabus. A majority of these micro groups displayed their ideas at the science exhibition held on Friday. The toppers from two categories (seniors and juniors), who were judged by a panel of jury, were given ₹10,000 each for two students as first prize, ₹7,000 each as second prize to two students and ₹5000 each for two students as third prize. The winners were from NMSM School, Kakkaipadiniyaar School, Sundararajapuram Boys High School, Bharatiar Middle School, Velli Veethiyaar School and Masathiyar Girls school respectively.
