‘Sabanayagi’ carries a message for people. A caricature of a young woman dressed in a traditional attire, sari with wings, book in one hand and Electronic Voting Machine in the other hand is being displayed in many places across Madurai district. She is ‘Sabanayagi’, the mascot for Madurai district for the 2026 Assembly election. She represents the first time voter. The wings point out the new power gained to exercise franchise. There are flowers, lamps, kollams, and messages along with the caricature. This signifies that it is a festival with grand celebrations, the festival of elections.
