A view of Bombay High Court | Photo Credit: Vivek Bendre The Bombay High Court on April 17 held that the arrest of businessperson Sheetal Tejwani in two criminal cases by the Pimpri and Bavdhan police stations was illegal as the grounds of arrest were not communicated to her. The Court, however, upheld her arrest in a third case registered at the Khadak police station. She is an accused in the Mundhwa land deal case. Justice N.J. Jamadar, in an order on separate petitions, said the grounds of arrest in the cases registered at Bavdhan and Pimpri police stations were not communicated to Tejwani at the time of her arrest or before she was produced in court. The High Court also said the trial court had downplayed the failure of the investigators.
