The Madras High Court on Monday (April 20, 2026) dismissed a batch of nine writ petitions, filed by DMK Rajya Sabha member R. Girirajan, seeking a direction to the Directorate of Enforcement (ED) to register money laundering cases against AIADMK leaders S.P. Velumani, C. Vijayabaskar, M.R. Vijayabaskar, P. Thangamani, R. Kamaraj, K.P. Anbalagan, K.C. Veeramani and two others on the basis of corruption cases pending against them. First Division Bench of Chief Justice Sushrut Arvind Dharmadhikari and Justice G. Arul Murugan dismissed the petitions after ED Special Public Prosecutor (SPP) N. Ramesh questioned their maintainability as well as the locus standi of the MP to file such petitions when he was neither a complainant nor a witness in any of those corruption cases being probed by the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti Corruption (DVAC).
