Thally MLA T. Ramachandran of the Communist Party of India was among 12 persons acquitted in the 2013 murder case of a CPI(ML) district functionary, by the Principal District Judge’s court in Krishnagiri on Friday. The case pertained to the murder of CPI (ML) district secretary Baskar in 2013. Baskar of Bathalapalli in Hosur went missing in March 2013 in Thally. His charred remains were found later in the neighbouring Malur across Karnataka border. The Thally police registered a case, and had charged CPI’s Thally MLA T. Ramachandran, his brother Varadaraj and his father-in-law Lagumaya among 13 accused. One of the accused had died during the trial. On Friday, PDJ Latha acquitted all the accused stating that the prosecution failed to prove its case.
