Overloaded tipper lorries along Pollachi-Dindigul National Highways raise eyebrows

Movement of tipper lorries with overloaded consignment of stones along the Pollachi-Dindigul National Highway has caused consternation among the travelling public.

Large tipper lorries loaded with stones at quarries at Madathukulam and Udumalpet could be found moving along the National Highway, without concern for other vehicles that could be damaged in the event of the stones falling out at bends when the lorries move with speed.

The brazenness of the lorry operators in transporting the exposed stones from mines is shocking, R. Sathish Kumar, Tiruppur-based environmental activist, said and pointing out that the public are constrained to surmise that the Police Department is turning a blind eye to the movement of these lorries.
