A private bus conductor was murdered at Chathiram bus stand in Tiruchi on Friday evening. The victim was identified as G. Prathap, aged 35, of Pudur Uthamanur near Tiruchi. According to the police, Prathap was murdered by Mookan, an acting van driver of Kattur. The two were said to be inebriated. Police sources said a quarrel broke out between the two at the bus stand in the evening. In a fit of rage, Mookan allegedly stabbed Pratap in the neck with a knife, killing him on the spot. The body was shifted to the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Government Hospital for autopsy. Mookan fled the spot. The Fort police are investigating.
