To mark the ongoing ‘Road Safety Month,’ Ramanathapuram District Collector Simranjeet Singh Kahlon flagged off a two-wheeler awareness rally on Friday to stress the importance of wearing helmet in saving lives.

Organised by the Regional Transport Office (RTO), in collaboration with the Police Department, two-wheeler dealers, and driving schools, the event aimed to foster safer travel habits among road users.

With Road Safety Month being observed from January 1 to 31, 2026, the district has been hosting a series of educational initiatives. As part of these efforts, the Collector inaugurated the rally from the District Collectorate complex.

More than 100 participants, all wearing helmets, rode through Bharathi Nagar, Old Bus Stand, and New Bus Stand, before concluding the rally back at the Collectorate entrance.

After the rally, Mr. Kahlon distributed road safety handbooks to commuters and pedestrians. Regional Transport Officer Anand and Motor Vehicle Inspector Thangaraj, police personnel and representatives of driving schools were present at the event.
