A 76-year-old woman from Sholayar Nagar near Valparai was found dead in a gorge near her residence on Sunday (April 19, 2026), with the corpse partially ingested by an unidentified carnivore. The deceased has been identified as A. Innasiyammal, who was residing alone. Forest Department officials said the elderly woman was in a frail state of health and had difficulty in walking.
