With summer approaching and water demand expected to rise, Deputy Commissioner Sreerupa has directed officials to complete all ongoing drinking water projects on a priority basis to ensure uninterrupted supply across Chamarajanagar district.

Presiding over a review meeting on the implementation of various government schemes at the Deputy Commissioner’s office on Friday, she said providing drinking water to the public remains the administration’s top priority.

Projects being taken up in rural, urban and town areas using available funds must be completed without delay, she said, adding that departments facing hurdles in obtaining clearances should immediately approach the concerned authorities to resolve issues.

The Deputy Commissioner said forest-fringe villages should not suffer from a lack of basic infrastructure and emphasised that construction of roads in forest areas would improve transport facilities for students.

She directed officials to ensure the provision of roads, drinking water and other essential amenities. Arrangements should also be made to provide vehicles to help children from forest-border areas attend schools and colleges, the DC added.

Ms. Sreerupa directed officials to ensure ambulance services during accidents and medical emergencies. She asked them to expedite land acquisition for the construction of buildings for Primary Health Centres and hospitals.

The Deputy Commissioner instructed officials to conduct regular inspections of hostels run by the Social Welfare, Scheduled Tribes Welfare, Backward Classes Welfare, and Minority Welfare Departments. They were asked to review facilities, student attendance, biometric systems and CCTV camera functioning, and to inform parents in cases of student absenteeism.

She directed officials to prepare a list of dilapidated rooms in anganwadis and schools and ensure follow-up on proposals for repairs or new construction.

Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Mona Roth, Superintendent of Police M. Muthuraj, Additional Deputy Commissioner T. Javaregowda, and other officials were present.
