Once a princely State, Pudukottai with a rich heritage and royal legacy occupied a special place which is testimony to the iconic structures, excellent drainage system, and waterbodies created during the bygone era.

Well-known for its town planning, Pudukottai was a model town when it was a “Samasthanam” under able administrators, However, Pudukottai now grapples with poor civic amenities and infrastructure which are attributed to lack of effective planning in tune with rise in population and urbanisation.
