Vizianagaram Municipal Corporation is planning to bring Champavati river water from Andra reservoir of Gajapathinagaram constituency to meet the water needs of people living in Fort City. The city always faces acute shortage of water during summer season. It is unable to bridge the gap between demand and supply of water. The Fort City needs around 47 million litres per day. However, the availability is said to be below 35 MLD during April and May months. To resolve this, the Corporation is planning to bring the water from Andra reservoir after taking prior permission from irrigation department. The Commissioner of the Corporation B.Bala Swamy directed officials concerned to ensure water supply without any interruption in all 50 divisions of the City.
