The Principal District and Sessions Court in Guntur has sentenced a man and his son to life imprisonment after convicting them of murdering three members of a family over a dispute involving a loan of ₹5,000. Principal District Judge B. Sai Kalyan Chakravarthi delivered the judgment on Friday. The court convicted Shaik Khasim and his son Shaik Jakir, residents of Sattenapalli town in Palnadu district, for the offences under Sections 120-B, 450, 302 and 201 read with 34 of the IPC. Apart from life imprisonment, the court imposed a fine of ₹1,000 on each convict. They were also awarded additional sentences ranging from six months to one year of rigorous imprisonment, with fines for conspiracy, house trespassing and causing disappearance of evidence. All sentences will run concurrently. The third accused in the case, Shaik Sufiya, was acquitted. The case relates to the murder of Shaik Rahimun and his children, Shaik Malinbi and Shaik Rahiman alias Abdul Rahiman, on July 5, 2023. The murders were committed after repeated demands for repayment of ₹5,000 that was taken as a loan earlier by Shaik Khasim from a deceased family member. According to the chargesheet, Shaik Khasim and his son Shaik Jakir strangulated Abdul Rahiman on the outskirts of Sattenapalli and later hacked Shaik Rahimun and Shaik Malinbi to death.
