PMK leader Anbumani Ramadoss launched a sharp attack on Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, accusing him of undermining women’s empowerment by opposing the Constitution Amendment Bill to implement reservation for women in legislatures.

In a statement, he said the idea of reserving seats for women in legislative bodies had been under discussion since the late 1980s. However, he alleged that repeated attempts to extend similar provisions to Assemblies and Parliament had failed due to resistance from parties such as the DMK and Congress. He claimed that concerns raised by Mr. Stalin, particularly about a possible reduction in Tamil Nadu’s Parliamentary representation, had already been addressed.
