Jothi Ramalingam Chennai Metro Rail will levy a fine of up to ₹500 on passengers if they are found listening to music or watching videos on the Metro trains without headphones. This move comes after an article in The Hindu, dated March 21 and titled, ‘The growing nuisance of reels on loudspeakers in Chennai Metro trains,’ which highlighted the difficulties that passengers often encounter when their co-travellers watch Instagram reels and YouTube shorts on the trains without wearing headphones.
