A family of five — two adults and three children — had a narrow escape after the car they were travelling in caught fire near here on Friday, officials said. The incident occurred in the morning while the family was travelling from Chittar to Konni. According to Fire and Rescue Services officials, the blaze broke out at Payyanamon near Konni after the occupants noticed smoke and flames emerging from the vehicle’s bonnet. They immediately pulled over to the roadside and got out of the car.
