Hyderabad Police’s Special Crime Team of the Central Crime Station with seized Monofil Gold Chinese manja bobbins | Photo Credit: BY ARRANGEMENT Five men were arrested by the Special Crime Team of the Central Crime Station for allegedly possessing and selling banned Chinese manja at inflated prices, police said. The accused were identified as 43-year-old Kandesh Pawan Kumar, a businessman from Badichowdi in Sultanbazar, 35-year-old Rohit Agarwal, a businessman from Sultanbazar, 19-year-old B. Nikhil, a student from Shanker Nagar in Amberpet, 26-year-old Mohd Moin Mallick, a private employee from Saheb ki Masjid in Chelapura, and 24-year-old Abdul Kareem, a welder from Lalbagh Masjid area in Amberpet. Acting on credible information, the Special Crime Team apprehended the five while they were allegedly attempting to sell banned Monofil Gold Chinese manja to customers. A total of 155 bobbins were recovered from their possession. The accused were later handed over to Sultanbazar, Amberpet and Hussainialam police stations for further action. Police reiterated that the use and sale of Chinese manja is banned as it poses a danger to people and birds, and said strict surveillance is being maintained against those involved in its sale.
