The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) organised an awareness programme on safety requirements prescribed under the Indian Standard (IS) for toys, here on Thursday. A press release said the programme was organised to create awareness among stakeholders, particularly toy manufacturers and retailers, regarding IS 9873 (part 1): 2025 – Safety of Toys. The session aimed at encouraging the adoption of standards in manufacturing practices to ensure safer products for children and enhance reliability in the domestic toy industry. R. Muninarayana, Director, BIS Chennai, spoke about the importance of adherence to standards in the toys manufacturing sector.
