T.N. Assembly election: Tiruchi woman ends life after alleged assault over distribution of gifts; six arrested

A 25-year-old woman ended her life in Tiruchi district after being allegedly assaulted over the distribution of gift items in her village. The police have arrested six persons in connection with the case, while efforts are on to apprehend three others.

According to the police, a group of persons — identified as Raja, Rajendran, Ravikumar, Rajkumar and Sureshkumar — were distributing gift items in the village, allegedly at the behest of DMK functionaries on April 13 and the deceased, Sindhuja ,25, a resident of Vazhaikattai village had requested that she also be given the items. However, the group reportedly told her that the distribution was restricted to their associates and party members.
