MP police team in city in connection with case registered on marriage of Kumbh Mela woman

A team of the Madhya Pradesh (MP) police arrived in the city to investigate a case registered in connection with the marriage of a woman — alleged to be a minor since then — whose video from the Maha Kumbh Mela had gone viral.

The woman, who married in Kerala after the local authorities reportedly verified her documents and confirmed her to be an adult, has consistently maintained that she is over 18. Her family, however, continues to claim otherwise. She is learnt to have petitioned District Police Chief (Kochi City) Kaliraj Mahesh Kumar seeking protection against being taken back to her home State against her will.
